Our Boy - the launch

Toby Slater left the city of London in 2006 to refit his father’s love affair - formerly known as ‘Regard’ - a Brixham Trawler Yacht. The refit turned into rebuild. He learnt boat building on the job with the help of Rick Cardy's watchful eye, a local shipwright whose skills stem from Thames Barges and alike.

On near completion, a devastating fire caused Toby to almost start again. He explains the drama, his feelings of this event and goes on to talk about restoring this family boat - a boat they couldn't give up on. Six and a half years later, the family finally watch her quench her thirst for salt water as she is launched in this film on the east coast, in Blackwater Marina. www.blackwater-marina.co.uk
